Hoop Dreams [1994]

Sinopse: Hoop Dreams is a documentary by U.S. director Steve James. The film follows the two African-Americans, William Gates and Agee Artuhe, visiting the St. Joseph High School in West Chester (Illinois). The school is attended mostly by whites and has an excellent basketball department. With 90 minutes to school, long and difficult training sessions and adapting to the new social environment, it is both hard to improve their athletic performance - and in a highly competitive labor market. Meanwhile, their families celebrate their successes and support each other in difficult times. In the film tries in different situations, issues such as race, class, social inequality, education and values and their importance in the United States to treat. At the same time, the film shows a good picture of life in the city center.
